1 box cake mix (I used red velvet for these)
1 16 oz container cake frosting
1 package chocolate bark (I used the Kroger brand)
rainbow nonpareils
sticks
Make the cake according to the directions on the package. Let cool and them crumble. Mix in 1/2 of the container of frosting. Form into balls and refrigerate overnight. Melt chocolate bark in the microwave slowly, stirring frequently. Dip each stick into the chocolate and then push stick about halfway into the cake ball-pushing into flat side (the side it was sitting on) so that the tops will be round and pretty. Dip the cake balls on the sticks into the chocolate and then tap carefully on the side of the chocolate bowl to let excess drip off. Sprinkle the nonpareils on top before the chocolate dries. The push stick into a styrofoam board so they can completely dry upright.
I bought the styrofoam and the sticks at Michael's. The sticks were called "cookie sticks" and they are a little thicker than lollipop sticks. If you make smaller cake pops, then use the lollipop sticks, but these were perfect for the pops I made. I made some with and some without sprinkles.
